Canning Turkey

The day after Christmas, I decided to try something new. I canned 8 pints of turkey (our leftover turkey) to be used at a later time.

I did some research before purchasing a bird of 19 pounds. There were quite a few what were you thinking moments and questions from my family. As I explained my plan (I was basically flying by the seat of my pants) there were some nods of agreement. I did some research, watched some videos, and did some reviewing.

I am pretty experienced in pressure canning (I can chicken and beef broth all of the time.)

Update: I also canned 5 pints of turkey broth. I don't want to say that this was the best broth I have ever canned, but it came dangerously close to being the best broth. Makes me want to make some turkey soup using the canned turkey.

2022 the year of the comeback for the Year of Health

I have decided (perhaps foolishly) to revive this blog. My goal is to post at least once a week. If nothing else, I am hopeful to post once per month. If so, that will be more times that I have ever published to this website. My goal is to publish at least a weekly list of goals I hope to accomplish in 2022 and my updates to this list each week.

Bits and Bobs

Today was a great day. I went tubing for the first time with the family and it was really relaxing.

Yesterday, I went and got help for my plantar fasciitis (aka new shoes) and I also did some research on how to heal my foot pain. It was almost bad enough to go to a doctor, but thankfully the internet cleared me of that notion.

Weight was 185 today as it has been for the last several months.

Time to get serious. I shall try to post a bit more than I have been.
